Howard D. Bidwell was an American celebrity father famously known for being the father of Julie Banderas, an American television news anchor for the Fox News Channel, based in New York City.

Howard D. Bidwell passed away quietly at home on Tuesday (November 16, 2010). He was born on January 1, 1930, to Howard E. Bidwell and Corinne Clapp Bidwell in East Hartford, Connecticut.

He attended Bucknell University after completing his high school education at East Hartford, where he received a B.S. in civil engineering. He received a commission in the Civil Engineer Corps of the US Navy after graduating.
In order to produce architectural precast concrete, Howard established Consolidated Precast, Inc. in 1966. Before moving to Thomaston in 1986, it was formerly situated in Farmington. He was well-known in his industry and served as the president of the Architectural Precast Association.
He was a longtime Farmington resident who served on the Zoning Board of Appeals and the Republican Town Committee. He was also a founding member, past president, and three-time Paul Harris Fellow of the Farmington Rotary Club.
Additionally, he had been a longtime participant in Farmington’s First Church of Christ, Congregational. From an early age, Howard was exposed to his father’s passion for sailing, which he took into adulthood by joining the Off-Soundings Club and the Baldwin Yacht Club.
Howard enjoyed cruising and racing, and he excelled at both. He won the “Daytona Beach to Bermuda Race” three times in his division.

His children include Tracy Bidwell of Columbia, S.C., Julie Bidwell-Sansone and her husband Andrew of NYC, and Melissa Bidwell of Brooklyn, NY. Howard is survived by his son Howard (Bud) Bidwell and his wife Ellen of Harwinton, his daughter Marybeth (Becky) Bender and her husband Kurt of Lebanon, his daughter Susan Williams and her husband David of Lebanon, and his daughters Susan and Melissa Bidwell. His seven grandkids include Joanna and Scott Bender, John and Katie Bidwell, Rachel and Rebekah Williams, and Addison Sansone. He previously wed Fabiola Bidwell of Farmington and Virginia Pocock of Lebanon.
Additionally, he leaves behind his Farmington-based brother Wayne Bidwell, his wife Martha, and their daughter Amelia.
