The first season of Lifetime’s Dance Moms, a reality television series about the dancers on the Abby Lee Dance Company Elite Competition Team and their tumultuous mothers, aired in 2011, and Maddie, then eight years old, made an appearance with her mother. During her six seasons on the show, which lasted until 2016, Ziegler stood out as a standout.
When Maddie appeared in the Sia’s “Chandelier” music video in 2014, she received enormous attention. In addition to being nominated for Video of the Year at the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards and winning Best Choreography, the video won the Australian Recording Industry Association Award for Best Video.

The video was  a 2015 Grammy Award nominee for Best Music Video. On YouTube, “Chandelier” received over 2 billion views and at one point ranked as the 13th most popular video of all time.

Alongside actor Shia LaBeouf, Ziegler appeared in another Sia music video in 2015 for the song “Elastic Heart.” On YouTube, the video has received over 1 billion views. Maddie completed her trilogy of appearances in Sia’s music videos later that year when she appeared in “Big Girls Cry” by Sia.
