Herbick studied journalism and communication at the University of Pittsburgh. The University of Pittsburgh, founded in 1787, is one of the oldest public universities in the United States and is consistently ranked as one of the top public schools in the country, particularly in health and literature.

Herbick interned at KDKA-TV CBS Pittsburgh, a popular local station with a large viewership, during her senior year. There, she began to truly learn the ins and outs of the television industry, and she graduated college ready to begin her first real job.

Natalie Herbick Fox 8

Herbick returned to CBS Pittsburgh to work full-time after graduating. Her first job was as a reporter for their sports station, where she worked on the show Steelers Saturday Night. Herbick then relocated to Ohio and began working for WTOV9, a local television station based in the small towns of Steubenville and Wheeling.

She not only anchored three evening newscasts, but she also reported live from the scene and produced some of the station’s news segments. She usually handled political, criminal, and lifestyle pieces for the station while working as a reporter. Herbick, on the other hand, covered a case that made national headlines in 2012.

In August of that year, a young girl attending Steubenville High School was raped and sexually assaulted repeatedly by classmates, many of whom proudly shared the incident on social media. The crime occurred at a party, where the inebriated girl was exploited and violated.

The story made headlines across the country, with several news outlets commenting on rape culture in schools as well as the potential dangers of social media. Two boys were imprisoned for only one and two years, respectively, and were not added to the sex-offender registry.

Herbick rose to prominence as a result of her coverage of the crime, and she relocated to Cleveland in 2013 to join the Fox8 team. She now co-hosts New Day Cleveland with Dave Moss every weekday at 10 a.m. She co-anchors the weekday news at 4 p.m. in the evenings.
