Zoe started her career in television as a runner for Granada Television and a researcher for BSkyB’s Cool Cube. After that, she spent two years working as a quiz show researcher. Her previous roles as a presenter include hosting Channel 4’s The Big Breakfast and The Priory, BBC One’s Saturday morning children’s show Live & Kicking, and the pre-school show Playdays. Ball gave SMart Mark Speight and Jay Burridge in 1994, and she stayed with them until 1996. Ball co-hosted the first season of Fully Booked in 1995. She was a regular presenter on Top of the Pops from 1996 to 1998, alternating with Jayne Middlemiss and Jo Whiley, who were both presenters and DJs.

Between 1999 and 2001, she co-hosted The Priory, a Wednesday night chat/music show commissioned by Chris Evans’s then production firm Ginger Productions, with Jamie Theakston.
