Joy Reid is an American cable television host, MSNBC national correspondent, and liberal political analyst who goes by the stage name Joy Reid. She was named one of the political experts “who have been at the forefront of cable-news conversations this election season” by The Hollywood Reporter in 2016. In the same year, she published Fracture: Barack Obama, the Clintons, and the Racial Divide, a book about the Democratic Party’s recent history.

She anchored AM Joy on MSNBC every week and wrote The Man Who Sold America: Trump and the Unraveling of the American Story in 2019.  On July 9, 2020, MSNBC announced that Reid would host The ReidOut, a new Washington-based weeknight show in the 7 p.m. Eastern time slot vacated in March by Hardball host Chris Matthews’ retirement.
