Jon has found countless cases of consumer fraud and government wrongdoing since coming to Magic City. Specifically, he has covered a number of high-profile federal fraud trials. The corporate fraud case of HealthSouth founder Richard Scrushy, the fraud trial of former Governor Don Siegelman, and the bribery trial of former Birmingham Mayor Larry Langford is among them. He also helped with the station’s extended coverage of the tornadoes on April 27, 2011.
Jon has been honored with a number of television news accolades throughout his career. The Alabama Broadcasters Association’s Best Reporter award, as well as the Associated Press Awards for Best Spot News Coverage and Best Investigative Report, are among them.
Jon is from Columbus, Georgia, a riverbank city. He graduated from the University of Georgia Journalism School in 1997 with a degree in Broadcast News. He was lucky enough to land a reporting job at the CBS affiliate in his hometown, where he worked in every capacity for five and a half years.
Jon grew up a Crimson Tide supporter, and despite his academic credentials, he supports Bama against everyone, especially the Georgia Bulldogs. Jon enjoys spending time with his family, which includes his wife Jennifer, son Jack, and daughter Julia.
