Then she was hired by the CBS station WDEF-TV in Chattanooga, Tennessee, where she worked as a reporter, editor, producer, cameraman, and news van driver. Spencer joined News 12 Long Island after a year, and two years later, she was announcing the 3 AM broadcast for WABC-TV.
