Mark has been a natural businessman since he was 12 years old. The seed for what would later become long-term success was placed early on when selling waste bags door to door. Mark came to Dallas after graduating from Indiana University, where he briefly ran the town’s most popular pub. Mark founded MicroSolutions, a computer consulting firm, after a disagreement with an employer who wanted him to clean instead of sealing a big deal. Later, in 1990, he sold MicroSolutions to CompuServe.
Mark and his long-time buddy Todd Wagner devised an internet-based solution to the problem of being unable to listen to Indiana basketball games while living in Texas in 1995. Broadcast.com, a website that allows you to transmit audio over the internet, was the answer.
Since purchasing the Dallas Mavericks in 2000, he has guided the team to the NBA Finals for the first time in franchise history in 2006 – and to NBA World Championships in 2011.
