He started working as a guest pastor at Crystal Cathedral in Orange County, California, on November 16, 2008. After his mentor Robert H. Schuller’s son Robert A. Schuller resigned as senior pastor in 2008, a number of well-known evangelical pastors delivered sermons at his megachurch. Several times, Maxwell went back to the Crystal Cathedral to deliver sermons, and his messages were broadcast on the Hour of Power television show.
Maxwell is a speaker, author and expert on leadership. He established the John Maxwell Team, INJOY, Maximum Impact, ISS, and EQUIP. EQUIP is a global organization for leadership development that works with leaders from more than 80 different countries. “To see effective Christian leaders fulfill the Great Commission in every nation,” is its stated mission.
Several times, most recently in 2010, Maxwell served as the keynote speaker at the National Agents Alliance NAA Leadership Conference.
