Joyce and her husband Dave reside outside of St. Louis, Missouri.  They have four grown children. Her organization is based close to Fenton, Missouri, a suburb of St. Louis.

Meyer briefly attended Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in St. Louis. She got involved in Fenton’s Life Christian Center, a Pentecostal church, and began giving early-morning Bible lessons there. Within a few years, Meyer was appointed as the church’s associate pastor. Her church rose to prominence as a result of the popularity of her Bible studies.

She also started broadcasting a daily, 15-minute radio show on a station. Her ministry was known at the time as “Life in the Word”. In 1993, her husband Dave Meyer convinced her to extend her network to television. Her program, now titled “Enjoying Everyday Life,” debuted on Black Entertainment Television (B.E.T.) and Chicago’s WGN-TV.
Over 12 million people have read the approximately 100 books she has written, which have been translated into more than 100 languages. The high demand for her books and the favorable reviews from readers and critics have made her one of “The New York Times” best-selling authors.
